At Green Allowance, kids take on energy saving tasks at home, and parents agree to share the resulting savings as an additional "allowance."

Whether participating as an individual or as a member of a school team, it's win-win for all involved.

Your School Team

Students at your school can set up their own team. Check below to see if your school already has a team.

For your school team score to appear in Leaderboards, the students' local utility and Green Allowance must be partners. Students register, and their utility provides data on home energy consumption to Green Allowance, where it is securely stored. Then, scores are aggregated and appear on the schools' Leaderboard.

If your utility is not yet a part of our program, your students can still create individual accounts to complete tasks, track estimated energy savings, and make a deal for their parents to share those savings. They could also create an offline team by bringing individual scores to school and aggregating them to create a school score.

Why You Can Trust Us

We're working to help children take the lead to champion resource conservation and help the environment. We are extremely sensitive to family and teacher concerns about their children's personal information and safety. We're also parents, and Green Allowance complies fully with COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

We are enlisting utility companies to partner with us to address climate change and reduce stress on our power infrastructure. If utility account information is provided to Green Allowance, security measures are taken to protect it. Your local utility will receive reports on the efficacy of this program. We will never sell or share this or any other personally identifiable information with anyone, nor will we send mass emails to the email address(es) you give us. (See our Privacy Policy.)

Your school team could compete nationally for saving the most energy if you'll help us partner with your local utility. Just enter your email address and select the utility that powers most of your students' homes, and we will compile requests and pass them along. We'll also keep you posted on any developments.
